Problem associating datasource with vb project

I am running Visual Studio Professional 2008 on Vista home - using VB to develop a database app. When I try to add a datasource to my project (an Access database) using the wizard - I get the following error message.

" An unexpected error has occurred.
Error message: Could not load type 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.Datadesign.SyncDesigner.DslPackage, Version - 9.0.0.0, ..."

The database appears in server explorer but the Data Sources window still tells me that the current project has no data sources associated with it.

I don't know if it is connected but I also get the following error message when I first select the toolbox window:

"Package load failure
Package 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.Xaml has failed to load properly'"

I have reinstalled Visual Studio and this seems to make no difference.
Can anyone help to shed some light on the problem.

Hi Jedeye,

Haveyou installed VS 2008 SP1? You can try install/reinstall SP1 first and see if it solves your problem.
